Porto Monge Tawny 750ml

Clear
Product Details

It is red in colour, with some lighter reflections. The aroma is marked by ripe fruit, figs, nuts, and some notes of caramel and spices. The flavour is rich, velvety, and full-bodied. It is very elegant and has a nice balance between the structure and sweetness.

Monge Tawny Port is made in the traditional way. Once the grapes have been received and checked for quality, they are destemmed and crushed. The crushed grapes are then placed in fermentation tanks where they stay under maceration for a few days at a controlled temperature to extract as much of the best components of the skins as possible. Fermentation is stopped at just the right moment by adding spirits, thus resulting in a naturally sweet wine. The wines then spend some time ageing and, after the first racking processes, they are stored in oak vats where they stay for at least two years. Afterwards the winemaking team choose the wines that will be used in the final blend to maintain the classic Monge Tawny Port style.

Grapes: A blend of several red grape varieties from the Douro, the most representative being Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Tinta Amarela.
