Description
Scala Coeli, owes its name to the Monastery of Santa Maria Scala Coeli, commonly known as the Carthusian Monastery, place where Carthusian monks remain silent and pray. It is the result of the best wines each year from less traditional Alentejo varieties.
It was first produced in 2011.
Intense ruby color. Aroma with floral and green notes typical of the grape variety. Rich and vibrant palate, it has a delicious and persistent end of mouth.
For being an exceptional wine with high potential for evolution, it deserved the designation of reserve.
Winemaking:
After picking, the grapes underwent cold maceration followed by fermentation at 28ºC and a further, prolonged, maceration for 35 days. Maturation took place over 15 months in new french oak barrels. Then wine is then aged in bottle for 18 months.
Grapes: Alicante Bouschet
Year: 2013
